what you should know about adoption
A common misconception is the ability to “foster to adopt.”
The primary goal of foster care remains reunification with the birth family whenever possible, and there might be legal or other challenges that can delay or prevent adoption. Foster parents play a pivotal role as partners and advocates for the birth family, supporting and encouraging reunification efforts.
There’s a crucial and urgent need for permanent and loving families, especially for older children, those with special needs, or sibling groups.
These deserving children are legally eligible for adoption and are actively seeking loving homes. Project Zero shines a light on this need and introduces you to these amazing children and teens awaiting homes through the Heart Gallery.
The domestic adoption process involves birth parents voluntarily placing their child for adoption and selecting adoptive parents.
Prospective adoptive parents often collaborate with private adoption agencies or attorneys to help these families navigate the legal process. Private adoption may be the best route for families seeking to adopt infants.
From Our Community
I continue to watch and walk alongside families as they lean into the Lord to lead them through this calling of caring for kids in need. Some come boldly and without fear and others come with questions and trepidation, but all come back to the knowledge that God is calling them to serve kids in need of safe and loving homes.Anonymous AREA 1 CASEWORKER
My dreams for the youth in the foster care system is for them to find themselves and become a part of their version of a family. Family can mean many different things! I want them to love themselves for who they are. Self love is more important than you’ll ever know!Lauren Former Youth in care
