Standard

Standard foster care homes provide a safe and supportive environment for a child until they can be reunited with their families of origin—which is the primary goal of foster care.

Specialized

Some children in foster care require more specialized or therapeutic care, including those with medical, physical, or mental health conditions, or who’ve experienced past trauma.

Who are the children in foster care?

Children in foster care range from infants to teens, with most being school-aged. They each have their own unique story and are placed into foster care through no fault of their own.

They’re just like other kids in your local community—attending school, loving sports and superheroes, adoring cute animals, and singing at the top of their lungs. They need a variety of caregivers who can nurture their passions and potential—particularly those who can support teenagers, keep siblings together, and care for kids with medical conditions.
